England's FIFA World Cup semifinal defeat to Croatia will hurt for a long time.

Captain and striker, Harry Kane said this after their 2‑1 extra‑time loss this morning.

Kane says its is tough, they are gutted, they worked so hard, the fans were amazing, it was a tough game and when they look back they will think there is stuff they could have done better.

He says it hurts a lot and it will hurt for a long time.

An early goal from Kieran Trippier looked to have England on their way to a first World Cup final since 1966, but Ivan Perisic headed home in the second half to force extra time, where Mario Mandzukic scored from an England defensive miscue to send Croatia to their first‑ever final.

And Kane said after the match it was hard to put a finger on what had gone wrong for the Three Lions so soon after the heartbreaking loss.

He says they created some good chances when they were 1‑0 up and maybe they dropped a little too deep but they didn't get enough pressure on the ball.

On the other hand, Croatia’s hero Mario Mandzukic called reaching the World Cup final a "miracle".

The Juventus forward scored the winner in the 109th minute to send the tiny country of just 4 million people to their first‑ever World Cup final, and couldn't say enough about the historic achievement after the match.

He says this is a miracle adding only great teams can be as brave as them and fight back from a goal down against teams like England.

He says they were like lions out there this morning and they will be the same in the final.

Croatia will play France at 3am next Monday in the FIFA World Cup final.
