The Fiji National University has become one of the first sponsors of the Disability Gala Awards Nite 2018 which is the first of its kind organized by the United Blind Persons of Fiji.
Chairperson of the Gala Awards Ceremony Rajnel Prasad says the University will be sponsoring the Student of the Year Award which is part of the seven awards that are up for grabs on the evening.
FNU’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Nigel Healey says they are pleased to be associated with an organization such as the United Blind Persons of Fiji as it is important to ensure that tertiary education is inclusive.
Professor Healey says with the government putting so much emphasis on education, it was only fitting that as the national university, FNU work with such organizations to ensure that everyone has quality education.
He adds that its important that as the national university, we take the lead in this.
The other six categories for the awards ceremony are Youth group of the year, Entrepreneur of the year, Senior Manager of the year, Sports Person of the year, Best Entertainment Group of the year and the Life Time achievement awards.
Nomination forms can be collected from the United Blind Persons Office, NCDP Complex Brown Street Suva or from all disable affiliates.
