An 11-year-old boy who raped a 5-year old boy in a village in Lau in January this year has been given a two year suspended sentence by the Suva High Court.
High Court Judge, Justice Chamath Morais has ordered that the term of seven months be suspended for a period of two years.
He has also ordered that the boy be placed on probation for a term of two years where he is to reside and study where the probation officer directs.
The Judge says any breach of conditions laid down by the officers be reported to the Court and the boy be appropriately counselled and offered further education.
The juvenile had pleaded guilty to a count of rape.
The court was told that on 31st of January this year, the boy was with the complainant and three other friends and they were having a rain bath beside a Church.
The court was further told that the 11-year-old boy, the complainant and their three other friends then went to the church porch where he raped the five-year-old.
One of the boys told his head teacher and the matter was reported to Police.
