The Chinese Association of Fiji has pledged its support to ensure that Kawakawa and Donu stay off the market during the banned period.

Association President, Jenny Seeto says that they have pledged to help disseminate information on the 4FJ campaign and the seasonal ban to the Chinese community across Fiji, which includes Chinese restaurants that have historically served Kawakawa and Donu to their customers.

Seeto says that they fully support the need to give Kawakawa and Donu a chance to breed and help their stocks rebound.

Seeto adds that awareness materials have also been translated into the Chinese language to reduce any potential language barriers.

Meanwhile, more then 18,000 individuals have taken the 4FJ pledge to avoid these fish during their peak breeding months with numerous prominent names in the business and tourism sectors also pledging their support.
