Energy Fiji Limited has announced a bonus payout of $1.9 million for its 792 staff.
Speaking at the event, Attorney General and Minister for Economy and Public Enterprises, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is the third time in a row that EFL has made a payout to its staff.
Sayed-Khaiyum says back in 2009 he had mentioned to the CEO that the company should move away from the old way of rewarding staff and there needs to be performance assessed rewards for individuals.
He says prior to 2007 bonus payouts were made to senior management while ordinary staff did not get paid those types of bonuses which is in place now.
The Minister says this is an enormous achievement which could not have been achieved without the individual input from the staff.
EFL CEO Hasmukh Patel says the payout will be done by next week.
