Fiji’s High Commissioner to Australia Luke Daunivalu has  presented his credentials to the Governor‑General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove.

A government statement says with a focus on strengthening political, economic and social ties between Fiji and Australia, a key part of the new High Commissioner’s work will be engaging with the Australian private sector representatives, investors, academia, Civil Society Organisations and the 100,000 strong Fijian diaspora community in Australia.

As Chief Negotiator for Fiji’s COP 23 Presidency, he continues to take charge the climate advocacy work under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Daunivalu’s appointment as Fiji’s High Commissioner is for the term of 3 years.

He takes over from High Commissioner Yogesh Punja, who is now based in New Delhi as Fiji’s High Commissioner to India.
