Three Fiji nationals have been awarded Japanese government scholarships for teacher training in Japan.

The Ministry of Education and Technology in Japan offered two year scholarships to Fijian school teachers at Japanese universities.

Asinate Qioniwasa, Clive Mawa and Meenal Sagar are currently school teachers in Nausori, Lautoka, and Labasa, and will continue their career as teachers after they have acquired further skills in theory and practical teaching in Japan.

Qioniwasa will study Science Education at Hirosaki University, Mawa will study pedagogy at the University of Toyama, and Sagar will study English Education at Tohoku University.

The Ambassador of Japan, Masahiro Omura, hopes that the awardees will become outstanding teachers who will contribute to the further development of education in Fiji with the knowledge and skills acquired in Japan.

The Ambassador says he hopes that the three of them will build special bonds with Japan and play an active part as a bridge between Fiji and Japan in the future.
