Modric won the award earlier this morning, beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah for the award.
Modric says that this award is not just his but for his team‑mates from Real Madrid and Croatia.
Brazilian Marta, was awarded the Best Women’s player.
Looking at other awards, Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah has won the FIFA Puskas award at the Best FIFA Football Awards.
The Puskas award is given for the best goal of the season. Salah’s goal against Everton has won the award this year.
France’s World Cup winning coach, Didier Deschamps has won the Men’s Coach of the Year.
Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois has won the Best Goalkeeper award.
