A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by the Nausori Magistrates Court after he was found guilty of one count of sexual assault and two counts of indecent assault.
The man was a teacher and the athletics coach at a prominent school in Nausori and the victim was a student at the school.
While sentencing the man, Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said that the man breached the trust of the student adding the man also betrayed the trust of the school authorities who placed him in charge to train these children.
The incidents happened between 27th February to the 15th day of March last year.
The non-parole period is five years.
