The Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs, the i-Taukei Affairs Board and the Centre for Appropriate Technology and Development has come under one banner in pursuit of a common vision and under an emblem that represents their history, values and principles.
While officiating at the launching of i-Taukei Ministry and i-Taukei Affairs Institutions Vision and Development Plans for 2018 ‑ 2022, Prime Minister Voreqe Banimarama says that in this case, these three historic institutions have been streamlined to work as one team to strengthen our focus on supporting Fijian family values and on main streaming more i-Taukei people into our rapidly modernising economy.
He says that they are reaffirming their commitment to the steadfast protection of culture, traditions, and the way of life known for generations of recorded history and long before, while also making sure that every i-Taukei feels the tremendous benefits of economic growth, equally and with no family and no community left behind.
Bainimarama says they have also launched the strategic development plans for the Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs and the i-Taukei Affairs Board, where both of these documents capture the hopes, dreams and aspirations of thousands of Fijian families.
He says that the documents also build on Fiji’s historic success under the FijiFirst Government, and they lay out blueprint and set out vision for the continued security and unending prosperity of the i-Taukei people.
The Prime Minister says because of the work they have already put in and because of the sacred guarantees of the Fijian Constitution, the i-Taukei operate from a position of strength – financial strength – like never before in Fiji’s history.
He says these new strategic development plans, hold promise of even greater achievement, greater prosperity and an even greater future for every Fijian.
