A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Group, Yasawa and eastern half of Viti Levu which includes Korovou, Nausori, Suva, Pacific Harbour and Navua.

A trough of low pressure lies just to the north of Vanua Levu and is expected to gradually drift south later today.

Another trough of low pressure approaches the group from the West and is expected to affect Fiji for the next few days.

People can expect isolated afternoon heavy falls and thunderstorms.

Showers are expected to become frequent and heavy later tomorrow.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
