Alivereti Veitokani has won the inaugural 2018 NRC Rising Star award, after being nominated in round 2 this season.
The NRC Rising Star award was created to recognise emerging players with fewer than three games in Super Rugby or for national teams.
Seven players were nominated from the seven regular season rounds and they include Andrew Deegan, Jock Campbell, Archie King, Darcy Swain, Jack McGregor, Len Ikitau and Alivereti Veitokani.
The judging panel consisted of FoxSports, RUGBY.com.au, Rugby Australia and Green and Gold Rugby and were asked to vote on a 3‑2‑1 basis with Veitokani winning by a landslide.
Veitokani topped the most clean breaks with 26, most offloads with 19, most try assists with 9 and most run metres.
Veitokani has been included in the Flying Fijians squad to tour Europe and is tipped to be a member of the Fiji World Cup squad next year.
The Fiji Airways Drua will meet the Queensland Country at 3.30 this afternoon at Churchill Park in the NRC final and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti FM.
