Local Government Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Joshua Wycliffe says there have been a few Municipal Council matters that required closer attention and examination including the running of the Council affairs.
His comment comes after Fijivillage asked him to confirm whether Nausori Town Council CEO Akhtar Ali has been sent on leave.
Wycliffe says he will be able to comment further on this soon once he receives further information.
Ali confirmed to us earlier today that he has been sent on leave.
We have also asked Wycliffe on the status of Nasinu Town Council CEO Lute Berends as there is word that he has resigned.
When contacted, Berends stated that all media queries have to go through the Ministry of Local Government and did not comment further.
