Carpenters Properties Limited has confirmed that the cracks that were found at MHCC has no evidence of any structural cracking therefore it is safe.
This assurance comes after concerns were raised about the visible cracks and water that poured out from the ceiling of the food court at MHCC.
Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Limited Director and Principal Engineer, Brian Jacob says that Carpenters Properties has removed tiles that had popped up in two locations in the Department store on Level 2.
He says that no structural cracking was evident in the underlying structural slabs in these locations.
Jacob says that some older cracking in the nonstructural floor toppings and non‑load bearing walls was evident but this was not affecting elements.
Meanwhile, Carpenters Properties Limited Director, Daniel Whippy says their buildings are safe.
Whippy says that the water pouring down from the ceiling in a video that is circulated was based on air‑conditioning works.
Carpenters Properties Limited who owns MHCC had requested Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Limited to visit MHCC Shopping Centre and Carpenters Tower construction site for inspections in conjunction with SCC and Ministry of Labour Occupation Health and Safety.
Whippy says that SCC was very content with what they saw.
The 17 level Carpenters Tower is due to be completed by March 2019
