Young people today can use technology and social media to paint a picture of what our country would look like if we do not do anything about the issue of littering in our communities.
This is the message by Miss Savusavu Town Council Maria Baravilala who is one of the 5 contestants vying for the Miss Hidden Paradise Savusavu Crown.
The 21-year-old says that she hopes to use social media to lure young people in various communities in Savusavu to work together to reduce their use of plastic and to start up clean up campaigns in and around the Savusavu community.
Baravilala says that she believes that this is the way forward for Savusavu to ensure that the community is kept clean and this will have rippling effect on the environment and the booming tourism industry in the Hidden Paradise.
The Vodafone Hidden Paradise Savusavu Carnival is currently underway at Narain Park, Savusavu.
Miss Savusavu Hidden Paradise will be crowned this Saturday and she will represent Savusavu at the Miss Fiji Pageant next month in Nasinu.
