31 trainees of Peace Corps Fiji have been sworn in after their 2 months training at the USP ICT center.
While Officiating at the ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou stated that through this project, youths become productive which enables them to be actively engaged in more project.
Tuitubou says that it would also help the youths of Fiji to overcome challenges they may face.
He also adds that over the years, the peace corp program in Fiji has included sectors such as Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Environment source Management Health Education and other skill trades.
Meanwhile, Regional Public Diplomacy Officer of the US Embassy Fiji, Rebecca Archer-Knepper advised that volunteers to embrace the challenges they face and have fun while doing what ever they are doing.
This also marks the 15th Anniversary of the first arrival of volunteers in Fiji who were science and maths teachers.
