Using woven baskets can help reduce the use of plastic and slowly enable people in Savusavu to completely move away from using plastic bags.
Miss Public Services Transport Agnes Cama has stressed that she hopes to use the Vodafone Hidden Paradise Savusavu Carnival to advocate on reducing the use of plastic bags and she has started this campaign in her own community in Nabaka Settlement in Savusavu.
Cama has also highlighted that young people will also be able to learn how to weave baskets and revive an art that is slowly dying out amongst the young people not only in Savusavu but across the country.
Tonight the Hidden Paradise Savusavu Carnival Queens talent night will be held at 7 o clock at Narain’s Park in Savusavu.
Miss Charity and Miss Savusavu will be crowned at 8pm tomorrow and Miss Savusavu will then go on to represent the Hidden Paradise at the Miss Fiji Pageant in Lautoka which begins on the 24th of this month.
