All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has labelled the criticism of selecting a rookie team for tomorrow’s test against Japan as "nonsense".
Hansen hit back at those questioning the All Blacks opting for eight debutants among an inexperienced 23‑man squad tackling the Japan tomorrow.
It will be the least experienced All Blacks outfit since the 1986 Baby Blacks side famously flattened France 18‑9 in Christchurch.
Hansen said making so many changes was out of necessity because of the number of games his players are involved in during a typically busy rugby schedule in a calendar year.
Meanwhile, former Chiefs No 8 and Japan captain Michael Leitch has been named to start against the All Blacks tomorrow.
The All Blacks will take on Japan at 5.45pm tomorrow.
