Firefighters are attending to reports of another fire at the USP Communications Building which was burnt last night.
Visible flames and smoke can be seen coming out from the building.
The area near the building has been closed off.
The University of the South Pacific has confirmed that no one was injured in the fire last night.
The fire spread to all three levels of the building which includes some offices for Pacific TAFE, the Centre for Flexible Learning and especially Student Administrative Services which deals with students admission, registration, student data and record management, examinations and associated support services in scholarship management.
In an email sent to all staff and students, USP says Student Administrative Services staff will need to wait until all assessments are carried out about the safety of the area.
This safety assessment would be carried out today and over the weekend.
