While many students are taking their break during this holidays, a few students from Nausori wanted to work rather than being at home.
The eldest of the group a 19-year-old who is in year 13 says that working during the holidays is much more exciting than staying home and this job will enable him to earn enough money for Christmas this year.
He adds that this work will also help his family financially for their Christmas party.
Another student highlighted that one reason they were doing this was trying to become more independent in life. He says that one day they all have to grow up and being independent will be part of it.
The group consists of students attending different schools from the ages between 16 to 19 years with holiday jobs such as packing boys, salesmen, construction, cinema attendants and factory process workers.
While the group shared their stories on how they will spend their Christmas one of them said that they are earning $150 to $180 in a week which is more than what they expected.
They all said that they will also use the money to buy school uniforms, shoes, bags and other school supplies.
The youngest of the group who is 16 years old joked about having a new phone come this Christmas so that he can call all his friends and mostly his girlfriend.
