Manchester United have chosen to extend the contract of France forward Anthony Martial.
The 23‑year‑old's current contract expires in the summer but will now run till 2020.
Last month, United took similar steps so as not to loose their Spain keeper David de Gea.
Martial's representatives are in discussion with United over a new separate deal apart from the contract which has been extended to 2020.
However, Martial's agent has told a French TV station that he is very pessimistic about a positive outcome of the discussions.
He says that Manchester United have already sent them offers though they do not meet their expectations and for the time being are very far from an agreemnent.
United signed Martial from Monaco for an initial £36m in 2015, making him the world's most expensive teenager in the sport.
Meanwhile, in the English Premier Leagues, Manchester United will take on Paris St‑Germain in the Champions League Last 16.
Last 16 will begin from 13th February, 2019.
