Police and the Fiji Corrections Service will carry out separate investigations into the escape of the seven prisoners from Naboro Maximum Security Complex yesterday morning.
This has been confirmed by Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Maretino Qiolevu.
He says it is early to determine anything at this stage but they will be working collaboratively with the Fiji Corrections Service.
The Fiji Corrections Service is yet to comment on the incident.
A joint taskforce led by the Fiji Corrections Service K9 Unit, Police and Army Personnel recaptured the seven prisoners.
Ulaiasi Qalomai, Filipe Delana and Mesulame Waqabaca were all arrested yesterday afternoon.
Qalomai and Delana are serving time for aggravated robbery while Waqabaca is serving time for murder.
Solomoni Qurai who is serving time for murder, Peniasi Qalibau and Bainivalu Tuimatavesi who are serving time for aggravated robbery and Josaia Usumaki who is serving time for burglary and larceny were recaptured early this morning.
All seven prisoners were recaptured near the Wainadoi area.
Qiolevu has also thanked all members of the public for their patience and understanding.
He says roadblocks and regular checks on the roads created a lot of traffic congestion and many travellers were delayed in their movement on Christmas Eve but this was not in vain as the seven escapees were recaptured within 24 hours.
Qiolevu has also thanked the Fiji Corrections Service officers, Army Personnel and Police officers who were part of the joint operation taskforce.
