Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar has challenged newly appointed Head of Schools in the primary and secondary and technical colleges to be agents of change and create a conducive and modern educational environment for all young Fijians.
While officiating at a three day induction training for the new heads of schools at Suva Grammar School Hall today, Akbar says that as leaders, they need to understand the concept of being a good leader.
She adds that the three‑day workshop should enable each of the teachers to understand the concepts of being an agent of change and creating a conducive learning environment to assist them individually when they take up their new postings in their respective schools.
Akbar urged the schools’ heads to understand the government policies that will be introduced under the education sector and to ensure that this policy is streamlined to all teachers including all administrative staff.
The three‑day workshop that will end of Friday will focus on areas like; understanding the policies under the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts, enhancing teaching and learning environment and introducing a new system of support within their respective schools.
