50,000 people are expected to be affected by the shutdown of the Waila Water Treatment Plant this Sunday.

While highlighting this at a public consultation at Vunimono Community Hall, Water Authority of Fiji General Manager Customer Service Sekove Uluinayau advises customers living along the Nausori, Dilkusha, Tailevu South and the Rewa Delta areas that water supply will be disrupted from 6am this Sunday to 6am Monday .

Uluinayau says that the interruption in the supply of water is the result of the repair works that will be done at the  Duilomaloma Road near the Waila Water Treatment Plant.

Uluinaiyau says that once the commission works are done customers will see an improvement to the supply of water as water supply will be boosted.

He adds that the they will ensure that there is minimal interruption in the supply of water as they will be using 30 water carting trucks to service the affected areas.

Uluinaiyau says that they will place 100 water tanks at strategic locations in those affected areas.

Uluinayau has urged customers to store up at least 200 litres of water to cater for drinking and cooking purposes during the shutdown period.
