With less than 4 days left for the Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team to better their player combination and to get their set pieces right ahead of their first pool match of the Hamilton 7s, the side has a lot to play for this weekend as defending champions.

Coach Gareth Baber believes pressure is always on them to deliver what their supporters are expecting, especially as defending champions.

Baber adds maintaining the central key components of defence within the team creates a lot of opportunity for them to score points.

Baber says the players should also understand the individual tackle technique, and in order to execute this technique they are working on organising players in the right position on the field which will give them the advantage to make good one on one tackles.

He says the team who have arrived in Hamilton need to understand how to organize themselves in different situations gives the advantage to the players to win the contact area they are involved in.

Fiji is currently sitting in third place with 35 points on the HSBC Sevens Series points table trailing behind New Zealand with 37 and USA with 38 points who appeared in two consecutive cup finals in Dubai and Cape Town.

Fiji will take on Wales in their first match of the Hamilton 7s at 10.52am Saturday, they will then face Argentina at 2.42pm and will take on Australia at 6.52pm in their last pool game this Saturday.

The Cup quarters will start at 10.36am this Sunday, the semifinals will kick off at 3.16pm and the final will start at 7.10pm this Sunday.
