Fiji Netball has welcomed the assistance announced by the Australian Prime Minister Scot Morrison to help boost Fiji's preparations for the Netball World Cup with financial support as part of its Pacific Sports Partnership programme.
Fiji Pearls Coach Vicki Wilson a former Australian Diamonds captain said with the World Cup just six months away every bit of help is extremely valuable.
Wilson says that Netball Fiji is thrilled with the support from the Australian Government adding that this funding will be directed towards funding their training camp to be held in Australia prior to the World Camp in July.
When questioned by Fijivillage on when the Fiji Pearls would be in camp and for how long, Wilson says that the details to the camp will be finalised following the teams trials and squad announcement this Saturday.
Wilson says that the funding will also enable Netball Fiji to engage the services of support staff such as a performance analyst, a mental skills coach and medical services.
Wilson adds that the additional staff will be on hand to help the team during a series of training camps in the coming months and tests against Singapore in April and New Zealand and Samoa in June.
The Fiji Pearls are in Pool C in the Netball World Cup 2019 with Jamaica, South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago.
The 2019 Netball World Cup will be held from the 12th to the 21st of July 2019 in Liverpool, England.
