It is challenging to be a male nurse in a female dominated field but if you are passionate about serving people, you will overcome the challenges.

These were the sentiments of registered nurse Joji Daunoco who says that the first time he walked into the lecture theatre he almost withdrew from his course of study as he was the only male student there.

Daunoco has been awarded the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship to further his studies at the Fiji National University.

Daunoco says he felt very shy but his passion to serve the people helped him overcome his shyness and later on he met other male student nurses.

He added that these challenges have further helped him gain confidence and work well with others.

Daunoco has encouraged everyone to follow their dreams to be what they want to be in whatever field they choose.

The 27-year-old says every individual is a human being and should be served with the same passion regardless of their age, race or religion.
