Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says a cultural shift is needed if we are to overcome Non‑communicable Diseases.
Bainimarama made these comments at the Fiji Sports Awards, and challenged the athletes to help encourage people to train and live a healthy lifestyle.
Bainimarama told the athletes they can be ambassadors for positive change in the lives of their fellow Fijians adding they should not underestimate how much good they can achieve.
He says while Fiji has some of the fittest and talented athletes in the world but we also have a huge number of Fijians who suffer from NCD's.
The Prime Minister adds the government is putting in resources to extend necessary sporting facilities so that every Fijian can live a healthy lifestyle.
