A Labasa resident has requested Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum if the Fiji Roads Authority can maintain cane access roads and not the Fiji Sugar Corporation.

Kansami Naicker of Vunika in Labasa told Sayed‑Khaiyum at a budget consultation that the cane access roads are mostly used by the general public and not specifically the cane farmers adding that these roads are very hard to maintain.

He says that the public cannot be stopped from using these roads.

In his response, Sayed‑Khaiyum said that they will be addressing the issues that have been raised on the cane access roads in the budget.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says that they will be looking at some solutions.
