The case where a 34‑year‑old man allegedly raped his wife last Wednesday has been transferred to the Suva High Court by Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.
The man is facing one count of serious assault and one count of rape.
According to Police, the wife was asleep and the man came and woke her up because he wanted to have sex.
The wife said she was having stomach aches and did not want to have sex.
The husband then got angry and allegedly repeatedly punched the wife's thighs before raping her.
The man has been remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned to the 18th of this month.
