The Fiji Trades Union Congress National Executive Board has decided to defer its national protest planned to take place today and the protest march planned in Nadi tomorrow.
It says the two planned activities have been deferred until further notice and has called on all its members to await further advice.
This is decision was made after the FTUC National Executive Board emergency meeting yesterday afternoon.
The Board says it has made the decision after noting that FTUC National Secretary Felix Anthony is still in police custody, the detainment of several union members and leaders and the refusal of the permit by the Fiji Roads Authority to use the road for the protest march planned for tomorrow in Nadi.
It also took into account the questioning of FTUC staff and search of the Headquarters premises, offices and confiscation of storage devices and computer.
The Fiji Trades Union Congress says it will continue to lobby for six issues that have been part of its campaign for the past years.
Those issues include the National Minimum Wage, Delay in Labour Law Reforms, Right to Strike, Vatukoula Strike, Unresolved Issues regarding the Federated Airlines Staff Association and Opposing the Imposition of Individual Contracts.
