High Court Judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe has acquitted a man who was charged with rape.
While giving his judgement, Justice Rajasinghe says the Prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the man raped the woman.
He says the evidence of the complainant is infested with contradictions and inconsistencies.
Justice Rajasinghe says the contradictions and inconsistencies are directly linked to the main issues of the matter, creating a reasonable doubt about the reliability, credibility and truthfulness of the evidence given by the complainant.
