More than a dozen people including farmers and a taxi driver were arrested by Police in the last few days after being allegedly found with drugs believed to be methamphetamine as well as marijuana.

Eight out of the 13 people arrested were allegedly found with methamphetamine.

In one incident, Police and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service worked together and helped intercept a vehicle carrying substances believed to methamphetamine at the Wainadoi Police Post. The driver of that vehicle is in custody at the Navua Police Station.

They also arrested a taxi driver after a plastic of crystals believed to methamphetamine was allegedly found in his vehicle.

Two farmers were also arrested in Savusavu on Tuesday after Police allegedly found 10 sachets of white substances believed to methamphetamine.

Smoking apparatus and drugs believed to be marijuana were also allegedly found.

The two men will be produced in the Savusavu Magistrates Court today each charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Four people were also arrested in two separate raids in Narere where two women and two men are in police custody.

In the first raid in Narere, Police allegedly found drugs believed to be methamphetamine as well as smoking apparatus while drugs believed to be marijuana, smoking apparatus and $1,000 cash was allegedly found in the second raid.

Two people were also arrested in Lautoka after being allegedly found with 16 sachets of drugs believed to be methamphetamine as well as marijuana.

There were also three different arrests in Nadi, Ba, and Wainibokasi, where drugs believed to be marijuana, was allegedly found by Police.

The drugs found these cases have been sent for analysis.
