Hurricanes captain Dane Coles says they need to improve their game from what they did last night if they want to win against the Crusaders next week.
The Hurricanes were made to work hard for the win, scraping home to a 35‑28 victory to earn them a semifinal game.
Hurricanes Coach John Plumtree says they have to make sure they nail the key moments that might be small at the time, but the Crusaders have got good impact players where the team can gain momentum and score.
The Crusaders have never lost a Super Rugby playoff game at home in 22 attempts, while they are also unbeaten in their previous 22 games at home this season.
The Hurricanes will take on the Crusaders in the second semi final at 7.35pm on Saturday.
The first semi final will see the Jaguares host the Brumbies at 11.05am on Saturday.
