An interest rate of 6.75% worth 346 million dollars will be credited to over 379,000 FNPF members accounts this Sunday.
The Fiji National Provident Fund says this is the interest rate for the financial year ending 30th June 2019 and the amount which each FNPF member gains will depend entirely on their average balance during the year.
FNPF CEO Jaoji Koroi says this is the highest amount ever credited to members accounts and is almost double to what FNPF credited 5 years ago.
Koroi says this money being credited into member accounts is from all the returns that FNPF got in the financial year ending 30th June 2019.
FNPF is also urging all employers to pay their contributions for wages in May this year and it is opening tomorrow to allow these employers to do that.
It says if those employers contributions for the month of May are not paid then the employees will not fully benefit from this interest rate being credited in FNPF members accounts.
FNPF says this is a small group of employers whose employees are very vulnerable like in construction and security.
