Amlesh Kumar from Namosau, Ba and his horse Volcano won the Legend FM 250 metres Open Race at the Sabeto Horse Races today.
Kumar takes home a trophy and $300 cash.
He says he bought Volcano for $7,000 in Sigatoka earlier this year and since then the horse has been winning races for him.
Shiva finished second while Almondo finished third.
In the Tourism Fiji Wild Card Race, Rambo finished first, Krishna finished second while Billy Boy settled for third place.
Ashad Ali and his horse Vodafone finished first in the Hot Bread Kitchen 1,400 Metres Open Race.
Ravoravo finished second while My Tiger finished third.
Meanwhile, organisers of the Sabeto Horse Races cancelled the last three races due to the muddy ground conditions.
A post on their official Facebook page - Sabeto Horse Races says for the safety of jockeys, animals and hundreds of spectators, the remainder of the event has been cancelled due to rain.
It says keeping safety in mind the ground is too muddy for the remainder of the three races to take place.
