Good news for the villagers of Nalebaleba, Nadroga as they now have access to clean and safe water supply through the commissioning of a project worth $193,000.

Speaking at the commissioning, Minister for Infrastructure, Jone Usamate revealed that through the project a new 45,000 litres cement tank, laying of pipelines, and installations of 15 stand pipes and showers were done.

He says currently 78 percent of Fiji’s population has access to safe, clean water.

The Minister also highlighted that in the last five years, Government through Water Authority of Fiji has allocated $6.2 Million towards Rural Water Projects in the province of Nadroga/Navosa.

He says this has seen the implementation of 49 Rural Water Projects within the province.

He says Fiji’s 5 Year and 20 Year National Development Plan sets an ambitious target to have 100 percent access to safe, drinking water by 2030.

Usamate added Government is optimistic that this target will be achieved as planned.
