There is no work that is currently being done on the MHCC Tower.
This has been confirmed by the Suva City Council CEO, Bijay Chand.
Chand says that Carpenters Pte Limited had brought in their consultants to fix and stabilize piles that were sinking.
He says that once their reports are submitted and approved then works will continue at the Tower.
Meanwhile, Carpenters Pte Limited had earlier confirmed to FijiVillage that the foundation of the MHCC Tower that is still under construction was stabilised in January this year.
They say that this has been confirmed by the independent engineers and consultants from Australia and New Zealand.
Carpenters also stated that their consultants are also in the process of completing design drawings in compliance with Suva City Council and Town and Country Planning.
They say that this is expected to be done by the end of this year with the complete office tower to be ready by the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Carpenters Pte Limited confirms that all engineers and consultants engaged by them are independent professionals, namely Batchelar McDougall Consulting and Holmes Consulting from New Zealand.
They say that the building has been stabilised.
Carpenters had earlier highlighted that the MHCC Tower is structurally safe although works had stopped and some columns were sinking at the time.
