The lawyer of Suliasi Fuata who allegedly punched and stabbed his 19‑year‑old partner to death in June this year has asked for more time to obtain plea instructions from the 21‑year‑old man.

Fuata is represented by Legal Aid lawyer, Shantel Hazelman who informed Justice Thushara Rajasinghe that Fuata was not ready to take his plea today as she has been unable to obtain instructions.

During the court proceedings today, Justice Rajasinghe also told Fuata to look up and stop putting his head down and looking at the floor.

DPP Lawyer, Sujata Lodhia informed the court that they have filed the information and disclosures.

Fuata is charged with one count of murder.

He has been remanded in custody.

Fuata allegedly murdered his partner in Colo‑i‑Suva after a heated argument over a Facebook message that was sent to a relative of the victim.

Fuata will take his plea on 22nd August, 2019.
