The University of the South Pacific staff will be receiving backpay on their 5% salary increase for the years 2016 and 2017 by the 7th of August.

This has been confirmed by the Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia today.

Ahluwalia says the back-pay will be for around 500 to 600 USP staff.

He says the University would not function without the hardwork  of its staff and this was evident during the USP Open Day last week, which saw 92 schools from around the country visiting the University for this event.

The President of University of South Pacific Staff Union Tarisi Vacala says on the 23rd of last month they settled an agreement for this back‑pay.

She says this victory is shared amongst all parties and it serves well as a Vuvale concept of family and inclusiveness and shows the Pacific Way at its best.
