Health Minister, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says reports that nurses’ salaries have decreased are false and has urged people to stop spreading fake news.
Dr. Waqainabete says instead the government has worked in the last two years to increase salaries of people within the civil service and doctors and nurses have also enjoyed salary increases.
He says the government has also brought the Open Merit Recruitment Selection to ensure that the best medical staff are serving the patients.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Fiji Nurses Association, Salanieta Matiavi has also rubbished reports that nurses’ salaries have gone down. She says they are happy with the current salary bands for nurses.
