52 communities across Fiji are expected to benefit from footbridge and crossings which will be ready by the end of November this year.
Out of the 52 communities, 27 are from the Western Division, 21 are from the Central Division, two are from the Eastern Division and two from the North.
While speaking at the launching of the "Hope‑Skip and Jump" 52 footbridge and footcrossing program, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Waterways and Environment, Dr. Mahendra Reddy says the footbridge and footcrossing construction will link the communities to opportunities such as helping children going to school, people to farm, work and other destinations.
Reddy says this is a joint project that the Ministry will be carrying out with the communities.
Reddy says the project will approximately cost a quarter million dollars.
Reddy says the footbridge and footcrossing will also make night time crossing safer for people as solar powered lighting will also be fitted to these bridges.
