The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation will be consolidating a national prevention strategy on violence against women through an inclusive and consultative process in the next few months.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa while officiating at the National Convening of Rural Women Leaders Community Media Network at Tanoa Plaza this morning.
Vuniwaqa says they will be counting on the voices of women and girls amplified through organisations like FemLink to ensure that pertinent issues are addressed.
Vuniwaqa has also commended the efforts being put together by the Fiji Womens Fund in promoting gender equality and womens empowerment throughout the networks platform and spaces.
She says that the Ministry stands in support of their invaluable work and they all recognize the importance of elevating the visibility of rural women’s leadership.
Vuniwaqa says womens voices and in particular marginalised women is critical for the fulfillment of their agenda.
She says this convening will also draw particular attention to the root causes of violence experienced by women and girls.
