The Legal Aid Commission is set to kick off a series of roadshows in Ba this Saturday where Fijians can get free access to legal aid services.
This has been part of Legal Aid's 3-year strategic plan to ensure that all Fijians have access to high-quality legal services even if they are unable to pay for it.
Director Shahin Ali says all Fijians attending can expect legal assistance and advice in all areas of law.
He adds these services will be covering all aspects of the law such as free drafting of wills and assistance on land-related issues to advice on criminal matters such as bail, mitigation and pleas and in addition to that family matters are given special focus to assist Fijians with difficult issues like divorce, maintenance, Domestic Violence Restraining Orders and Stop Departure orders.
Services will not be strictly limited to legal issues with advice on issues with service providers and government departments also available.
Ali says if you are facing issues with your water, electricity, social services or a delay from an authority on your applications for land or lease renewals, you can visit the Legal Aid team and they can issue a letter on your behalf seeking an update.
Last year the Commission provided legal advisory services to 26,725 Fijians.
