The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee has signed an agreement with the City of Oita and the Oita Prefecture for Fiji's Tokyo 2020 Olympic pre-games training camp to be held in Oita City.
Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Isikeli Mataitoga says Oita City holds a special place to all Fijians and is also one of the very first cities that established exchange ties with Fiji.
Mataitoga says this partnership will add value to the existing exchanges and allow Fijians to make greater progress in furthering people to people exchanges, business, and tourism.
The agreement formalises the cooperative relationship of Fiji and Oita, specifically, in the areas of cooperation and exchanges that will cover:
• Fiji pre-games training camp for the Tokyo 2020 Games to be carried out in Oita City;
•The exchanges of necessary information regarding the pre-games training camp; and
•The exchanges with local areas and organizations.
The Fiji Embassy in Tokyo will now coordinate closely with FASANOC, Oita City, Oita Prefecture, and relevant line agencies, in providing the best and smooth facilitation for Team Fiji preparation towards Tokyo 2020 Games.
Akita, Saga and Fukuoka have also made an offer to host Team Fiji.
