Water levels have started to recede in the part of Savusavu Town affected by flash flooding after heavy rain early this morning.

Lesiaceva Road in Savusavu is currently closed to all light vehicles due to flooding. This has been confirmed by the Fiji Roads Authority.

Debris have also blocked off Lesiaceva Road at Korovesi.

Resident Ronil Ritesh says the road is not accessible to vehicles at the moment.

The area in front of Courts Fiji in Savusavu Town was affected by flooding and Savusavu Town Council workers are currently working on clearing drains of debris. Please take the necessary precautions if you are planning to travel through that area.

It started raining heavily in Savusavu from 2 o'clock this morning. The rain has now stopped.

The Nadi Weather Office says the rain affecting parts of the Northern Division is being brought by a trough of low pressure that remains slow moving over the Northern division.

It is expected to affect parts of the Northern Division until the weekend.
