The National Disaster Management Office has confirmed that they have received the assessment report from the Provincial Administrator Kadavu and a joint assessment team will be departing Suva for Kadavu next Tuesday to conduct risk assessment on the situation on Kadavu Island.
It says long term options for possible relocation will also be considered depending on the outcome of the assessment.
The NDMO says they are still prioritizing that a risk assessment needs to be done for the safety of the communities on the ground.
National Disaster Management Office Acting Director, Litiana Bainimarama says that the priority areas are Lomati, Talaulia, Dagai, Tawava village and Rt Eliki Memorial School.
Bainimarama says moving into the wet season their main concern is that these communities will face the risk of a landslide in an event of a heavy downpour.
She says they are exploring more options and if the need for evacuation arises then evacuation will be done
