Fiji Airways Men's National 7s Team Coach, Gareth Baber confirms that former captain, Kalione Nasoko will not be participating in the upcoming Oceania 7s and is likely to miss the first four opening tournaments of the HSBC Sevens series.
Baber says Nasoko is still recovering from a knee reconstruction surgery and they are expecting him to be fit for the tournaments in March or April next year.
He says they will not put any pressure on him as they need him to recover from his injury, get his body back in shape as well as participate in rugby tournaments.
He adds they would like him to participate in some of the 2019/2020 HSBC Sevens series tournaments so he can be considered for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Baber is expected to name his team for the Oceania 7s this afternoon.
Fiji is pooled with New Zeland, Japan SDS, Niue and New Caledonia for the Oceania 7s.
The Oceania 7s will be held from next Thursday to Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.
