Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says approximately 30 to 40 Fijians are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.

While stating this during the launch of the Prostate Cancer Awareness month at the Defence Club, Dr Waqainabete says that Fiji is fortunate to have clinics that looks after prostate cancer patients.

Dr Waqainabete says he is pleased that the month of October was Pinktober and now this month is Movember, which allows them the opportunity to reflect on cancer and the effects of non-communicable disease as a whole.

Dr Waqainabete says the mobility and the mortality of prostate cancer is that it takes away the quality of a man’s life at the time where he can offer his best to his family, community and to the nation.

Dr waqainabete is urging men to come forward and get tested since this disease is one of the three major causes of death in the country.
