Three students with special needs were among eight pre-school students that graduated from the Pioneer Tutoring and Day Care Centre yesterday.
Centres Executive Director Krishneel Chand says the Centre is inclusive and is a daycare and a pre-school as well.
He says there are 10 children with special needs in the daycare and pre-school and these children need extra love and care to lead as normal a life as possible.
Chands says it is important for children with special needs to be integrated within the school system and be with other children.
He adds that there is a need in schools for more teachers who could teach students with special needs.
5-year-old Gabriel Basil is one of these students with special needs.
His sister, Matilda Basil says this year has been very difficult for her brother because they have had to change schools four times because of Gabriel's autism.
Basil adds that other parents and teachers at other schools did not understand her brother, they said he was uncontrollable and were calling him a mistake and also claimed he had demonic spirits.
She adds it is important to give children with special needs attention and be patient with them.
Pioneer Tutoring and Day Care Centre was established last year and this was their first batch of graduating students.
